This Thursday Feb. 10 I am taking my trusty Toyota up into the mountains to visit my recent hometown of Nelson, BC. Well, I’m not just going to be visiting, no of course not. I’m performing 3 shows!
Thursday night I am part of the annual Valentine’s Burlesque cabaret (started by yours truly in 2006) at the Capitol Theatre. At the helm now is Scarlet Mary Rose and her Heavy Petal Burlesque, and I’ll be singing with a 5 piece band! The show runs again on Saturday night, this time at the Spirit Bar in the Hume Hotel. So it’s your choice: a theatre show where you have a guaranteed seat and can actually SEE the show, but no booze or dancing; or the night club where you have to wait outside in February for a standing-room only rocking bar party. Both shows are $20, and it’s a benefit for the Nelson & District Women’s Centre.
As well, on Friday Feb. 11 I’m putting on my own concert (gotta cover my gas costs!) in the Benwell Lounge of the Hume Hotel. This is an EARLY SHOW, doors open at 7:30 and the music is from 8 – 9:30pm. Tickets $10 at the door. Joining me are Cliff Maddix on guitar, Rob Johnson on bass, and Steve Parish on drums. The music will be a mix of jazz standards and my original Soul/Pop songs. I hope you can make it out.
While I am not particularly looking forward to the 8-9 hour drive there and back, I am looking forward to seeing all my old friends and being in the Koots for a few days. I just wish a had more time to get up to Whitewater for a day, haha! It will definitely be a whirlwind of a weekend. But that’s still a few days away, and today I get to celebrate my sweetie’s birthday by taking her out for a special dinner. :)
Yea that’s my soul sista! Bring it girl! We love what you do…
